If you aren't specifically aiming for the restoration/vintage effect of nitrocellulose lacquer then acrylic, a water borne lacquer, is the ideal alternative. Available from us in clear and tinted versions, both in aerosols and bottled for use in a spray gun.

Acrylic lacquer does not require any special thinners - it can be thinned up to 5% with water. It gives a crystal clear finish that doesn't warp, crack or yellow over time and can be polished to a great gloss finish. Being water-based it is suitable for use over most other lacquers, including nitrocellulose and polyurethane.

Our easy-to-use aerosol cans are great if you just need to touch up a patch of lacquer, have only a small area to lacquer, or do not own a full spray gun setup.
